Kao Corporation is strengthening its business in Asia by launching its prestigious cosmetics brand Sensaiin Indonesia. The brand’s first counter opened on February 21, 2025 at Sogo Plaza Senayan, Jakarta.
Jakarta’s Senayan district is famous for its luxury hotels and high-end shopping destinations. Senayan Plaza is one of the most unique department stores in the city.
The Japan Group believes the brand’s features are perfect for the established skin care procedures in the country.
“Indonesia has a strong affinity for Japanese skin care culture, including well-known practices of double cleaning, double moisturizing and UV protection. This is exactly the same as Sensai’s skin care ceremony Saho. We believe that the introduction of Sensai in Indonesia will help expand our fan base among Asia’s wealthy consumers,” explain Yoshiko Sakurai, Kao’s Sensai Brand Manager.
Sensai’s Saho ceremony was inspired by Japanese tea rituals and emphasized double cleaning and double moisturizing – a ritual designed to cultivate the skin and take thoughtful care for the best results.
The move was to open a Sensai flagship store in Shanghai, China in 2023 and launch Kao’s Molton Brown in Indonesia in December 2024.
Sensai, along with Molton Brown and Cureél, is one of KAO’s leading global growth cosmetics brands.
Since its launch in 1983, Sensai has been committed to creating products that reflect meticulous Japanese skin care technology and hospitality. At the heart of its formula is Koishimaru silk extract.
With brands like Bioré, Jergens, Curél, Sensai, Molton Brown and Oribe, Kao has approximately 34,300 employees worldwide.
