The tail of the year ends with activities, from cozy dinners to vacation binges, which means there are plenty of occasions to try out the fall dress trend dripping from the runway. Between the Maxis and Minis, between the structured leather style and free-flowing silk, the best of this season is clever and relaxed at once.
Take the sweater dresses as an example, popping up in almost every collection from Michael Kors to miu miu, perfectly combining winter-ready knits with a brightly scented outline that feels comfortable and not bulky, with a hint of homespun charm. Again, we love the wear and tassel edges on the dresses of Khaite, Gabriela Hearst and Fforme, where there are handmade details. Meanwhile, the minimalist sheath, Altuzarra and Alberta Ferretti play the delicate sheen of satin.
Romantic Maxi’s outfit swept the runways of Louis Vuitton and Chloe, which included the Airy Chiffon layer, while Erdem, Prada and Proenza Schouler all caused compelling cases for this fall’s flower case. Our love for lace is attributed to the cool months, thanks to the lingerie-style sliding in a variety of candy pastels. In fact, pink seems to be the color of the season – from peaches to peonies, the dresses are all rose.
Pay close attention to details like droppers, thigh-high gaps and dramatic overhangs, all the same as day and night. Of course, it’s never too early to start collecting a series of glittering dresses for the party season. From the runway to your closet, you can learn more about our favorite fall dress trends.
Sweater dress
Sweater dresses are definitely the MVP of the season (…or should we say D?). Miu Miu offers methyl sweater shifts, while Michael Kors and Victoria Beckham get Hanky-Hemmed Maxis, while Isabel Marant and Prada have an oversized jumper look. In the early days of fall, the springs are light gauge braided and shorter hem, and then the matching scarf, wrap and gloves are lowered as temperatures.
Romantic long tail
If you’re playing in a bohemian style kick this summer, you’ll love the romantic long skirts offered this fall. Louis Vuitton trimmed his robe with contrasting lace, while Chloe and Dôen made the most of the air chiffon layer. Match your clothes with boots to balance all romance with some solid romance.
Wear and tattoos
The edge of this season is everyone thinking about it. New York contemporaries like Khaite and Fforme left their hem and seams with the leads of The Row and Tod’s Letting Tweed, Gabriela Hearst and Calvin Klein and Calvin Klein lasted for a long time. All of this provides a handmade charm for fall products, allowing edges to fly and embrace natural materials such as tweed, silk and wool.
Long sleeves and low waist
For months, you may have enjoyed the silhouette of the lost clothes. Usually a combination of a knitted top and a floating skirt, it is basically a piece of clothing. So we’re happy to see that this fall, staple dresses are being upgraded. One of the hottest trends in summer is a fall that becomes friendly and warm with long sleeves, turtleneck sweaters and longer skirt lengths.
Red and red
Is there a more brittle color than a deep mello? From Bordeaux to Burgundy, this affluent red can be seen everywhere this season, amidst the twists and ties of Alay and Lanvin, to Nili Lotan and Mango’s Slinky Satin Slips. This dramatic tone, like its name, is the same achievement and temptation.
Paillettes preparing for the party
The festival is approaching quickly, and it is too early to do so. Nothing worse than the last minute battle! Fortunately, the designer goes all out, so there are plenty of options for romping decor or super sequins. From the works of the Paillette decorations by Dries Van Noten to the sequin sheen of Rabanne, letting yourself shine from head to toe.
Wallflower
It turns out that floral scents can be groundbreaking when sweet prints fit into a moody palette. From Prada to Proenza Schouler, Erdem to Dôen, Dittsy Fall Florals seems to be back on vintage wallpaper, lending bohemian to long-sleeved style. However, unlike your summer garden, these flowers will remain vibrant in winter.
From boudoir
Our romance with lace is far from over, as the details of the lingerie influence pour into Fall’s products, from Chloe’s retro-style, candy-colored glides to the sheer layers of Fendi and Coach. We’re very fascinated by Bettter’s unconventional view of the Boudoir look. The mirrored neckline and the hem of their slip skirt turned into layered camels!
la vie en rose
From bright Gucci Bubblegum to Calvin Klein Salmon, and soft roses from Prada and Tove, this season is all about little pink dresses. This may be an unexpected choice outside of spring, but when paired with neutral accessories in gray, taupe and brown, the pink becomes so autumn.
Shawl, gather and tie
Effortless, clever, we are still big fans of shawl dresses. Whether it’s in bold monochromatic tones like the chili red of chili klein and Chartreuse from Proenza Schouler, or the muted neutrals seen on Alaïa and Sportmax, the huge impact of curtains, collectors and tie is as shocking and elegant as it was in this season’s iteration.
Leather dress
The leather dress made an unexpected turn this fall, with designers like Simkhai, Fendi and Ulla Johnson marrying the full dress. Even Toteme’s shirt and Khaite’s Mod Mini have elegant shawl details.
Satin is simple
In a series of neutral tones, the satin twirls a star with a surprisingly minimalist cut. Between sweeping sliding and bold shoulder options with thick details, these dresses look completely modern while still making statements on a short zipper (or just a quick slide over the head).
Big Reveal
Saying goodbye to summer doesn’t mean we have to cover it all up. Peeping around the legs with high gaps on the thigh is a great way to show a little skin despite the longer hem. As Balenciaga and Coperni explained on the track, we like to styling the outline with clear socks.
The wild side
Snakes, leopards and zebras, oh my god! The boldest dress of the season hasn’t given up on animal prints from top to toe. All in the craziest mode in the numbers Gabriela Hearst, Tory Burch, Saint Laurent and Brandon Maxwell.
